Murray Evennett graduated from Michaelhouse School in 1990 whereupon he attended National Service, then went on to completing Business Management at what was is now known as Durban University of Technology (formerly known as Technikon Natal) and the Estate Agents Board Exam. He has worked in the commercial and Industrial property industry since 1995.

After travelling extensively around the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States, he returned home to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, in January 1995 and joined Colliers RMS from 1995 to 1998 as a Commercial and Industrial Property Broker. He then went to England and worked for a Property Developer during the year of 1999. Upon returning home, he joined The Investec Property Group, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Investec Limited. Here he received the role of Portfolio Manager, which involved property and asset management. Since then, he has opened a Management Company focusing on the needs of Private and Corporate investors alike establishing a solid foundation of some forty Commercial, Industrial and Retail property housing in the region of 400 tenants.
